Mongrel Soup / FTAOTU

Petina joined Slingshot in 2002 after experience in selling unique clothing at Melbourne's Cambellwell market. SLINGSHOT assisted Petina in thinking through her ideas to set up a more permanent showcase and retail space. Her first label Mongrel Soup began in a new exhibition space at 125 Little Smith Street Fitzroy. Petina's interest is in young independent designers of fashion and accessories. She sources talent locally and from overseas, designers from Japan, Germany and from Australia featured in the gallery. In July 2003 she set up FTAOTU in DeGraves St Subway in the Cambell Arcade and was joined by Clara Little. Together they have opened Curious Eidolon at 80 Johnston Street, Fitzroy. As The Age reporter Michelle Cammiade for Hot Shop states, Curious Eidolon is "more like an art gallery than a retail store". It's filled with quirky designed products: designer dolls, limited-edition T-shirts, badges, homewares, stickers, toys and clothing by local and international designers!
