Creating Connections Education Employment Pathways (CEEP)

Creating Connections Education Employment Pathways (CEEP) is a YHAP initiative aimed at strengthening planned pathways to independence through engagement in education, employment and training.  CEEP brokerage funds are available to young people aged 15-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness and who are supported by a homelessness assistance service (SAAP) to access education and employment options.

CEEP Update

As services are all aware Creating Connections Education Employment Pathways (CEEP) Round 5 applications have been processed, with applicants receiving letters informing them of the outcome and some have started spending the funding already.

Round 5 attracted 41 applications with a large percent of funding being asked for again around travel, computer / internet access and school books / assistance with fees.

As there has been no confirmed announcement that CEEP funds will be available into the future we received applications for this possible final round in excess of $40 000. CEEP funding was only allocated $26 000 per round and due to additional funds provided by Melbourne Citymission we have $30 000 available for this round.

To ensure that the Panel have been able to provide as many packages to young people as possible we are able to offer partially approved applications.

The Panel has decided that non essential items applied for woruld not be funded and a reduction of the computer / printer packaged to $800 would ensure that many more young people would be able to access funds to assist there education, employment and training pathway.

In general the Panel found most applications were missing vital information, the information that is asked for is to ensure that the Panel can make informed decisions around the brokerage. Missing information ranged from parts of the Young Person's Details section (particularly the Alpha Code) that is specifically needed for data purposes; missing information on linked case plans; specific EET relevant information and why funding is being sourced; the 2nd table not being filled out and quotes not being attached.

A reminder to all services who have received CEEP funding that:

*   3 month and 6 month reviews need to be completed in a timely manner.
